Cancer Epidemiology and Preventive Oncology Science Board

Türkiye Cancer Institute Cancer Epidemiology and Preventive Oncology Science Board consists of the Head of the Institute and its members. Board members are selected for a two-year term by the President, upon the proposal of the Head of the Institute, from among individuals who hold at least a doctoral degree in cancer epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, preventive oncology, and related fields; who have distinguished themselves through their works, research, inventions, or studies; and who have successfully established and/or managed scientific and technological systems, institutions, and units. A member whose term expires may be re-elected through the same procedure.

Duties of the Science Board:

• Provides opinions and recommendations regarding the requirements for the preparation, development, and implementation of national cancer epidemiology and preventive oncology programs.
• Makes advisory recommendations for the development of cancer prevention strategies, risk reduction policies, and early diagnosis programs.
• Offers suggestions for developing collaborations with international organizations, conducting joint projects, and ensuring participation in consortiums.
• Monitors epidemiology and preventive oncology programs conducted in other countries and conducts scientific assessments for their adaptation to our country.
• Makes recommendations for determining the topics related to the field of cancer epidemiology and preventive oncology in project support calls to be issued by TÜSEB.
• Develops proposals for strategic planning aimed at the nationwide dissemination and implementation of the Institute's programs.
• Contributes to and provides recommendations for the planning of scientific activities such as training programs, seminars, courses, congresses, and similar events in the field of cancer epidemiology and preventive oncology.
• Provides scientific support to the efforts aimed at preparing guidelines, books, reports, and scientific publications related to the field.
• Provides scientific contributions to the implementation of decisions taken on matters within the Board's purview and deemed appropriate by the Presidency.
